General Information - Travel Consultancy

avec is a 'virtual' company that links people with skills to people looking for solutions.

Expressions of Interest are being accepted from experienced travel consultants for the preparation of international travel for specific interest groups.

A major travel agency specialising in specific interest group travel has gone into receivership and the administrators have provided us with ten tours the agency has contracted to complete. The interest groups are:

  • Australian Equestrian Association - a six-week tour including Europe, New Zealand, Canada and the US with a focus on dressage, eventing, and jumping.
  • Australian Gamers European Tour - 21 days around the Leipzig Games Convention involving Electronic Entertainment, Infotainment, Edutainment, Telecommunications, Media and Hardware.
  • Aviation Enthusiasts of Australia & New Zealand - a four week tour for aviation buffs taking in the Oshkosh Airshow, Reno Air Races and aviation museums in Washington, Seattle, Los Angeles and Phoenix.
  • Western Art & Country Music Association - a four week US tour focusing on Western (Cowboy) music and art, with visits to Nevada, Texas, Wyoming, Colorado and the Dakotas.
  • Parliamentary Committee for Sustainable Living - an intensive global investigation that takes in Sarvodaya (Sri Lanka), Damanhur (Italy), Nimbin and Crystal Waters (Australia), Huehuecoyotl (Mexico), Christiania (Norway), Findhorn (Scotland), Centre for Alternative Technology (Wales), and Earthlands (Massachusetts, USA).
  • Craft Guild Australia - a five week international tour for craft enthusiasts taking in the ART 2012 International Handicraft Fair, Florence, Italy, plus Alexander's Palace Scrapbooking Show, Nth London, UK and the Amish Quilters, Pennsylvania, USA.
  • IT in Education Council - a six week study tour visiting selected schools in Canada, USA, and the UK with a focus on e-learning. The council has asked the consultant to nominate the schools that meet their criteria.
  • Sports Coaching International - a three week tour of major baseball clubs in America for Australian coaches and administrators with a view to raising the profile of baseball in Australia.
  • National Committee of Aid Organisations - a five week study tour of the Sahel region of Africa including Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso Niger, Chad, Sudan and Eritrea.
  • Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres) Australia - an intensive four week investigation of refugee camps in Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Myanmar.

    Registration of Interest

    Once you register your interest, a client brief and an application form will be sent to you. You are required to submit your application online. Please ensure that your responses include enough information about you to enable the selection panel to place your registration on a short-list of possible candidates. Your registration will be acknowledged within 24 hours.

    Selection

    The opportunity to undertake professional development during your consultancy means that competition for a place on the team is intense. If short-listed, you will undertake several online personality assessments. You will be able to use all the assessment reports even if you are not successful in gaining a place on the team.

    Acceptance

    Successful applicants will be offered a place on the consultancy team subject to their acceptance of these conditions:

    • agreement on a completion date negotiated by the Project Supervisor
    • being prepared to undertake Professional Development as part of our commitment to the criteria set by the appointed administrators.

    Project Work

    As a successful travel consultant will be given sole responsibility to plan the group tour, including the complete itinerary, flights, land travel, accommodation, meals, event admissions and participant travel kit. You will be required to make a formal presentation of your completed proposal to representatives of the organising group. On-going support from the Project Supervisor will be available for the duration of your consultancy.
