Merv Edmunds became the first Australian Human Givens psychotherapist when he completed his training in the UK in 2007. A teacher and curriculum designer for over thirty years, Merv has focused mostly on those for whom schooling is unfulfilling, and has long argued the crisis of disenfranchised young people is an emotional problem not an intellectual one. He was immediately interested in the HG ideas when first reported in a magazine in 2003, and incorporated them into a national curriculum project which later won the Award of Excellence in Innovation and Design.
As well as a Graduate Diploma of Human Givens, Merv has trade, teaching, business, and workplace training qualifications and a Degree in Social Science. In 1993 Merv was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Education Award at Government House for his work with young people. He has conducted workshops and presented at many conferences in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
Merv brings to the role of online teacher all the benefits of a life well lived. He has travelled the world, built an aeroplane, designed and built a yacht to take his family sailing the Great Barrier Reef, and made two fiberglass sports cars.
