Roxanne Simpson completed year 11 at Mercy Regional College in Camperdown before undertaking a Certificate IV in Childcare at Warrnambool. She worked in several child-care facilities before starting a Diploma of Fine Art at Deakin University, undertaking the first two years part time. Roxanne studied full-time for the next two years to complete her diploma. She was offered a position with an advertising/marketing company in Warrnambool as a Graphic Designer, and she worked there for four years before deciding to return to study full time. Roxanne completed her Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University and is currently working on her Masters Thesis as well as undertaking several design projects for state, national and international clients. Roxanne has developed specialist skills in digital image manipulation and is widely regarded as one of Australia's foremost experts in the field. She has won several awards for her work, including the BHP Award of Excellence for Art and Design; Premier's Award (NSW) for Community Development; and the Optus Young Designer Award.

Roxanne lives in Mortlake with her partner Rod, and their two children. Rod, a unit controller for the power station in Mortlake, is also an acclaimed photographer, and they have worked together on several projects recently. They have converted an old church for their studio, and are avid users of communication technology to enable them to continue their rural lifestyle while undertaking design projects all over Australia and overseas.

Roxanne is a Pilates Instructor and takes classes for people interested in learning this exercise method. She has several horses, and competes in dressage and show jumping events locally.
